The Institut Químic de Sarrià, IQS, is a University founded by the Society of Jesus in 1916. IQS is located in Barcelona, Spain. In 1990, it became federated as a Founding Member of the Universitat Ramon Llull, which aims to provide interdisciplinary training, both humanistic and ethical.
Since 1991, when the activities of the Universitat Ramon Llull began, IQS’s training has been based in the Higher Technical College, with studies in the fields of Engineering and Chemistry, and in the IQS Faculty of Economics, in the field of Business Studies. Since 1986, IQS has participated in several projects related with nuclear energy.
Until 2000, the Spanish nuclear power plants funded these projects. From 2000 to 2003, IQS participated in the TECLA project related with ADS reactors for transmutation of nuclear waste, funded by EU. IQS has a large experience in participating in EU funded projects, mainly in the field of chemistry. IQS research infrastructure supports the different groups that participate in this type of projects.
